PSU Men's Lacrosse Team to Play in Local Tournament
The local chapters of the PSAA invite you cheer on the Men’s Lacrosse team as they compete in the 2nd Annual Nick Colleleuri Classic on October 11th. Penn State will be one of 14 teams in attendance for this year’s tournament operated by the Headstrong Foundation which raises funds to fight blood cancer.
Nick Colleleuri was a local athlete at Ridley High School who went on to play lacrosse at Hofstra University. In November of 2006, Nick lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after letting family and friends know of his dream to support cancer awareness, fund research, and eliminate the disease. Nick began the Headstrong Foundation which has been embraced by the lacrosse community on a national level. Penn State will join Ballarmine, Bucknell, Cabrini, Villanova, Haverford, Hofstra, Lehigh, Loyola, Maryland, Penn, Princeton, St. Joseph’s, and Widener in this year’s tournament that raised more than $75,000 in its first year. The event will take place at Ridley High School in Folsom, PA and feature 2 playing fields with plenty of fan friendly activity and food. Game time and opponent will be announced shortly so check back here or at headstrongfoundation.org for details.
